Not able to handle desires?

For long term career related desires- Translate them into intentions. You know that you have translated them into intentions when you are not thinking about them and working on them too much, when you are not too much stressed, when failure is also fine, uncertainty is not bothering you, when you find interest in Meditation twice daily and listening to wisdom daily and seldom compromise them.

Desires that cannot be fulfilled- Wait for some time, few months, or few years. Eventually you realize that you are actually more happy and free that they did not get fulfilled. The pain of non fulfillment, that unpleasantness in the mind and body was actually temporary. It went away after some weeks, months or years when you realized that great it didn't happened, there was actually nothing special in it.

Cravings- Moderation, Meditation, Prayers, Good Company.

He had to follow his ego, commit sins and fail in life in order to be liberated. So you commit sins in life to get liberated?!

From discomfort to comfort for some time

We wake up and feel unfresh. It's a discomfort. We take bath & feel comfortable. Then we feel the discomfort due to hunger. So we eat breakfast & tea and we feel comfortable, but only for a few hours. Then we repeat the process. We feel tired and see the comfort in our bed for a few hours, only to get tired and uncomfortable again in a few hours. Sometimes we feel clogged by too many thoughts, desire or anxiety and we meditate to get out of it, again for a few hours. We work and enjoy work comfortably only to get uncomfortable for mental break, which we take to get comfortable again. Daily.

How do we learn?

We read up on the topics frequently through news and articles, work on them in our job or business, keep discussing diverse aspects of these topics with friends & colleagues over a period of couple of months or years and then are able to connect the dots automatically.

The connection of dots, which is remembering the correct wisdom when in a situation, like in business situations, or business meetings and discussions happens in it's own. It just pops up.

Why did Swami Vivekananda eat fish?


There has been a debate recently on whether a 'Siddha' can eat fish and is Swami Vivekananda a 'Siddha' as he ate fish?

Analysing what Swami Vivekananda did cannot actually take us to the truth. Reaching a conclusion will take us away.

At the same time, every event needs to be seen from a context. For example, if a school kid gets depressed on getting poor grades, then we tell him that marks are not everything. But we cannot tell this to a kid who anyways doesn't want to study.

Swami Vivekananda did leave non-vegetarian food when he stayed in the US. Why did he? What did Jesus eat? Did Jesus ask fishermen to stop fishing & eat vegetarian? Let's try to find the answers. But, at the end, we can just wonder.

Another food for thought- Why has nature in the first place made carnivorous animals who need to chase and kill other animals for food? Is there a choice?

What's our mind seeking?

Our mind seeks different things in a day or a couple of days-

Work - Want to complete some commitments in work daily, either self driven or out of compulsion.

Express our achievements - The tendency to seek attention, praise from known people in our network. Although the number of people known to us is negligible to the total population on the planet.

Need to express - Talk it out with a friend, speak something.

Relax & enjoy - No interest in work for some time, like weekends, vacations, do something else that is not compulsive, or is a change to focused work,

Companionship - Love, etc.

Spiritual Ecstasy - Seeking the unknown, the unmundane, the secret, being elevated in that bliss of being with that. Any one of them can dominate for a couple of days and set your narrative for those days. Just when one particular mode dominates, be aware of it. That mode will change later in a few days.

Vacillating between suffocation and guilt?

You set your daily targets and work on them. They may be related to fitness routine, work, time spent in reading news & on social media. If you meet your targets stringently by force, you may feel suffocation and need a break. If you break out on social media too much, you may feel guilty.

The best way is to balance. Ensure that you meet 80% of your target daily and that's fine.
