The Countless Ponds

Are we like the frog in the pond?

Perhaps. Our ponds are filled with our list of people and places. The same home. The same office. The same shop. The same park. The same mall. Our ponds have become our world.

And the people? Some are friends. Some, colleagues. Some, acquaintances. Some, the reason for our aversions. Some, the cause of our cravings.

How many such ponds are there? As many as the people.

In a few years, each one's pond will change. This has happened in the past. The old list of people and places will be replaced by the new one. The people from the current pond who matter will gradually no longer matter. Are we still thinking about the people from the older ponds?

So, every time our mind is stuck in ego, craving, aversion or enjoyment, let us know that this pond too will one day leave us behind. And by the way, do we recollect all the past ponds of our lives?
